I have a lot of instruments in my studio. The last time I counted there were already more than 100 synthesizers. Not all of them have keys by the way. Some of them are modules that you can play on remotely with the midi protocol. A question I get a lot is if I really need all these synthesizers to create my music. The answer to that question is simple: No I don't.
Actually I started collecting synthesizers in 1990 (Long before I started making music in 2005), just because I was interested in the technical side of synthesizers. So I have been collecting synthesizers now for more than 20 years. I studied electronics when I started this hobby and was fascinated by the fact that you could make sound with electronics. When I understood how a synthesizer worked I wanted to know more and bought another one that created sound in a different way.
And yes they all have that special feature that make them unique. There are some machines in the studio that sound similar, but then maybe they play differently or I just like the looks ;)
So what did I do with all those machines until I actually started recording tracks. Well I learned how they worked. And I also created a lot of sounds on them that I still use now in my music.
Recently I also bought a drum kit and I used to have some guitars in the past. I'm not really good at playing drums and guitar though. But the drumming I'm trying to pick up now and maybe I'll also pick up guitar again in the future. Who knows ;) For now I'm still very busy creating music with synthesizers only.
You can read all about the instruments that I use in my studio on this section of the website. There are also lists of every instrument in the studio if you click in the menu's on the left and I'm trying to write some little reviews with them as well from time to time.
