Apollo track you like best?

HuisI used to have my studio on the top floor of my house, but there were quite some problems with that room. As you can see in the picture on the left, one side of the room is flat while the other side is round. That is very bad for the acoustics I can tell you. Another problem was that my wife and kids slept right below that room and I usually make music late at night. Even if I had me headphones on they could still here me upstairs and that was not a nice situation. So eventually we decided to dig a big hole in the garden and make a basement there to put the studio in, but we also added a piece to the side of the house. It took us about 2 years to get a permit from the local government, but then we could finally start in beginning of 2008.

Water 3It was really a big project and back then I wrote on every aspect of the construction on my blog. I copied all these articles on my website so you can read it all back. It all started with the construction of the actual room of course, but there are also articles about the construction of the custom made furniture, the acoustic treatment of the studio, the cabling and the airco installation. We also encountered quite some problems after wards with leaks when it was done. You can also read about all that. I took a lot of pictures during the construction and I put the best ones also on the blog. In the picture on the right you can see how big this project actually was.

3d StudioWhen the construction started I started to focus on the inside of the studio. I started thinking about the furniture and where to put everything in the studio. At first I was scared actually that it wouldn't all fit, so I made a 3D visualization of the inside of the studio to see how it all would work out up front. The only thing I did wrong in this picture is that the door was actually a bit more to the left. Making it impossible to put the synthesizers there were I planned them. But eventually it all worked out just fine. Especially the furniture turned out way cooler than I ever imagined.

Well enjoy reading on this section of the website. There is a lot for you to read ;)
