Synth.nl DIY Projects

Long time ago I studied electronics in school. And electronics actually is what got me interested in synthesizers
in the first place. In 2007 I decided it was too long ago that I did anything with my electronics background and
I decided to start building my own synthesizers from electronic components.

2008 - Big Modular

I just started with building some YuSynth, MOTM, MFOS and Oakley modules.
This will become a big analog modular system. More information from my Blog on this project: - Finished 1 YuSynth Random Module (Noise and Sample & Hold)
- Finished 1 YuSynth EMS VCF Module (Diode Ladder Filter)
- Finished 1 YuSynth Minimoog VCF Module (Transistor Ladder Filter)
- Finished 1 YuSynth ARP VCF Module
- Finished 1 YuSynth Steiner VCF Module
- Finished 1 YuSynth Fixed Filter Bank Module
- Finished 3 YuSynth VCO Modules
- Finished 2 YuSynth VCA Modules
- Finished 2 YuSynth VC-LFO Modules
- Finished 1 YuSynth Saw Animator Module
- Finished 3 YuSynth Audio/CV Mixer Modules
- Finished 2 YuSynth ADSR Modules
- Finished 1 Oakley Journeyman
- Finished 1 Oakley Noise and Dual Filter
- Finished 1 Oakley Equinoxe VC Phaser

- Building 1 Tellun Neural Agonizer
- Building 1 J Haible Tau Pipe Phaser
- Building 1 J Haible Triple Chorus

2008 - ASM-2

I just started on a new project called ASM-2 from Elby Designs.
This one will become an analog semi-modular synthesizer.

More information from my Blog on this project:
  • ASM-2 - (10 parts so far)
Status:

- Main PCB is ready
- PolyDAC PCB (MIDI2CV) is ready
- Raw DC PCB is ready
- Wooden cabinet is ready
- Front panel jacks mounted
- Most pot meters mounted

2008 - Elektor Formant

This is a project that I bought for repair. It is very old. It is a project that was presented as a DIY project in May 1977 by a magazine called Elektor. At the moment it is not working, but I will start restoring it in its old glory soon I hope.

More information from my Blog on this project: Status:
- I took out all the back panel wiring. I will rewire it completely
- I took out the power supply for repair.

2010 - Wilba MB-6582

An 4 stereo channel synthesizer based on the SID sound chips from the famous Commodore 64. I'm using 8 6581 SID chips in this one.

More information from my Blog on this project: Status: Finished construction, Need to find knobs.

2009 - AVRSynth 32

A nice project I'm doing together with my daughter. She got this digital DIY synthesizer for her birthday.

More information from my Blog on this project: Status: Done

2008 - PAIA 9700S

The second project I did was also a kit from PAIA. This one
was a bit more challenging though. The 9700S is a monophonic
modular synthesizer.

More information from my Blog on this project: Status: Done.

2007 - PAIA Fatman

This was the first project I did to get my skills back into shape.
The Fatman is a monophonic synthesizer that is sold as a kit
It is sold by PAIA on: http://www.paia.com/
