Apollo track you like best?

RecordingRecording is of course one of the most importing things in a studio where you want to produce music. In my studio I do all my mixing and editing in my PC. The heart of my studio are the two RME ADI-648's you see in this picture. Everything in my studio is eventually routed  from or to these two boxes. They are connected to two MADI interfaces in my PC to get the digital audio signals into my PC. On the other side they send out and receive digital audio over ADAT. If you want to learn more about what MADI and ADAT is you can read more in the 'Background' section of this website.

Aurora Friend-Chip

There are also some other boxes in my studio that are very important in the recording path. Since I also have a lot of analog synthesizer you need to transform the analog signals into digital signals somewhere. My main converters for this are two Lynx Aurora 16 AD/DA converters. But also the Friend-Chip boxes you see below the Aurora in the picture on the right are very important in my studio. They convert SPDIF signals into ADAT and back and also act as digital patch bays. Again if you want to learn more about how this works you can read the 'Background' section.

RME MixerAnother challenge that I have is to find the right input and output when I want to use something in the studio. Since there are 128 input and outputs in total on my PC that can be quite a puzzle. Luckily RME supplies this very nice mixer view with their MADI sound cards. Here you have VU meters showing all inputs and outputs on the cards. Usually I have this screen open on one of my extra screens so that I can quickly see what inputs are active when I play on a synthesizer. The RME MADI solution is really nice and flexible, had low latency and very stable drivers.

When you click on 'list' in the menu on the left you can see what equipment I use for recording in my studio.
